Riverfront Park Playground is a great stop for your younger children while in Salem.

Located in downtown Salem, Riverfront Park Playground is the perfect spot to let your children play and get their energy out. You will find one big playground with two play structures. The smaller structure is perfect for toddlers with a couple of observation windows, slides, bridge, and an imagination play area. The bigger structure is suitable for five to eleven year olds. In this area, you can find a fire pole, slides, tunnel, bridge, steering wheels, and ladders. The ground cover is bark which is great for falls, but a pain when wearing sandals. They have two big kid swings and two baby swings. There is a covered shelter and bathrooms close by. The bathrooms are single rooms with locks and are very clean. They didn't have a baby changing area, but the parking lot was a few feet away. There are two parking lots at Riverfront Park, but the parking lot on Front Street is the closest to this area.

There are a few benches to sit and have a snack. There are many big grassy areas as well so bring a lunch and blanket and enjoy the river view. We were able to see a bald eagle fly by while visiting the park.

There's a splash pad close to the playground. It opens around the end of the school year and closes when school starts back in the fall. When they are open, the water will be on everyday from 10 am to 8 pm.
