Rock Springs is a beautiful park for the whole family to enjoy some fresh air.

Located in Denver, just north of Charlotte, Rock Springs Nature Preserve has a playground, hiking, restrooms, picnic pavilion, amphitheater, and outdoor classroom. The playground has two play structures, a climbing structure, swing sets, bouncing ride-on toys, and a spinning toy. The smaller play structure has three slides, steps, an interactive station and options for climbing. The larger structure has several slides, climbing, steps, and an interactive station. There is a stand-alone pretend rock climbing and climbing on pretend trees. The swing sets have traditional and baby swings. The surface of the playground is filled in with mulch.  Next to the playground is the restrooms and a large picnic pavilion. There is a sidewalk that goes around the playground which is great for bike riding, scooters, or ride-on toys for the Littles.

A trail starts at the playground with a story walk along the way. This is perfect for young kids to read a book along the trail. The trail goes into a loop for 0.4 miles. It is partially paved and the other part is a natural path. Although a section of the trail is natural gravel it is still stroller friendly and bike friendly. On this loop, you will find the outdoor classroom and amphitheater. Off of this walking path is a trail that is part of the Carolina Thread trail. This natural surface path is through the woods for 0.6 miles one-way. This is a great trail for young ones to get their hiking feet.

Rock Springs Nature Preserve is a perfect place to get outdoors with the family. Check it out for your next family adventure. Afterward, make your way to one of the local eats and treats.
