Georgetown's Rose Park Recreation Center is Playground Fun for Everyone in NW DC
Rose Park, located at the entrance to Georgetown along P Street has two playgrounds for kids of all ages to enjoy. One is fully enclosed (the tot lot), the other is open. The tot lot has one of the nicest sandboxes in the city, as well as slides, swings, and a climbing structure in the shape of a grocery store truck. The open playground focuses more on climbing but also has a couple of small slides, spinning elements, a see-saw, and a pretend market stand for imaginative play. There are bathrooms in the Recreation Center when it's open and water fountains are available.
For Sports Fans
Both playground areas are surfaced with wood chips. Aside from the play areas, Rose Park also offers basketball and tennis courts, but be aware the basketball court is adjacent to the non-enclosed playground so you'll need to watch out for younger children wandering into the middle of a game. There's also a baseball diamond next to the non-enclosed play area.
Nearby Nibbles
If you need a coffee, stop by Emissary Coffee if you're coming from Dupont Circle, or head into Georgetown for a bite to eat around M Street. Chaia Taco is a delicious vegetarian option and Il Canale is also great for pizza and pasta just over ten minutes on foot. If a sweet treat is what you're craving after your run, Georgetown Cupcake and Baked and Wired are both in Georgetown, Baked and Wired is less than a ten-minute walk. Sweetgreen West End is only ten minutes in the other direction.
Activities in the Area
Dumbarton Oaks has beautiful gardens to wander with kids and is less than five minutes away by car.
