Simsbury Farms boasts a play area with plenty of space to roam!
The playground here is part of the Simsbury Farms Complex. There is a larger play structure for older kids and a smaller one for two through five-year-olds. There are some fun features such as a zipline and an elliptical, as well as a playhouse. Ramps make the structures accessible. Down the hill there are swings, which include a baby swing. There is a pavilion with picnic tables that provide lovely shade and a good place to watch the kids from in the summer.
The mulching probably could use some maintenance as it is worn away in the higher traffic areas and under the swings, which leads to giant puddle formation after rain- it’s not the best post-rainy day playground.
The adjacent tennis and basketball courts are great to have as an alternative to playground play. The entire complex provides plenty of room to run around; hills to run or roll down abound.

If your kids’ legs are in need of even more stretching, the fitness trail that goes around the perimeter of the complex is a lot of fun - it is about 2.5 miles long, and has fitness stations spaced out along the trail.
Within the complex are swimming pools, a golf course and an ice rink that has open skate sessions in the winter.
Outside of the complex, Great Pond/Massacoe State Forest and Stratton Brook State Park have great family-friendly trails. Flamig Farm is a great low-cost farm experience.
Tulmeadow Farm Store has over 50 flavors of delicious homemade ice cream, and Ana’s Kitchen has exceptional sandwiches, salads and other deli fare.
