Sonoma's Plaza Park boasts a relaxing green space and two fun playgrounds.
This park in the heart of Sonoma has two separate playgrounds, along with other great features such as a sandbox area, a duck pond, and an open space for picnics or play. One of the playsets is geared to smaller children ages four and younger, with baby swings. The other playset is designed for children ages five to twelve, with big kid swings and a tall slide. Bigger kids will love sliding down the fireman pole and climbing the ladder. This playground was designed to let kids get their energy out! The amphitheater in the park provides the perfect spot for theatrical kids to express themselves if they get inspired to give an impromptu performance, too.
Beyond the great play structures, the sand and soft play surface are both nice, too. There's a duck pond where the resident waterfowl can be spotted paddling around, and a lovely rose garden that blooms in the summer. There's enough green space in the park to play frisbee or kick a soccer ball around or to spread out with a picnic. There are also picnic tables. You could try your hand at bocci, too! The path offers a flat, safe surface for kids to scooter around.
We loved this park's central location, mainly because the Sunflower Cafe was steps away when we were in need of a sweet treat. The cafe also serves breakfast and lunch.
Restrooms can be found in a brick structure in the park. The play structures and the green space are only partially shaded, so make sure to pack some sunscreen.
