This hidden gem has two playgrounds, paved walking paths, 11 multi-use fields with permanent lighting (9 have synthetic turf and 2 have a natural grass field), and a 5,000 capacity stadium.

The Sportsplex at Matthews has a little bit for the whole family. Older kids can play on the fields or practice while the younger siblings can play on the playground. There are three different areas labeled A, B, and C. Areas A and B have playgrounds and restrooms. Area C has two fields and restrooms. The playground in area A is smaller but has a larger structure for older kids and a smaller play structure for the littles. It even has 3 ziplines to ride. This playground area has no shade. I would recommend bringing lots of water and sunscreen when playing here.  The playground in area B has a large play structure, small play structure, monkey bars, shaded sections, and swings. Both areas have covered shelters for a picnic. 

The 4 Mile Creek Greenway links up to this area so you can make a long run or walk. Have the kids bring bikes or scooters or bring a stroller to get some exercise on the paved walkways.  Some of these paths are shaded with mature trees while other parts of the path are open with little to no shade. 

Matthews Sportsplex sports fields are all permanently lined for soccer and can be temporarily lined for other sports such as lacrosse, football, field hockey, and rugby.
