St Paul's Recreation Complex offers both structured and unstructured play on acres of parkland.

Located on the grounds of the shuttered St. Paul's School Episcopal School for Boys, sits 30 acres of lush parkland where St. Paul's Recreation Complex takes up residency. The magnificent and historic building, built in the late 1800s, can be seen in certain areas of the park. Today, the complex features loads of activities — some open to residents only (you can call Garden City’s Recreation Administration Office at (516) 465-4075 to learn more) — to entertain kids of all ages.

The outside area consists of a 90-foot baseball field, as well as soccer and lacrosse fields, and lots of green space to throw a frisbee, play chase, or conduct a game of tag. Restrooms can be found in the “Comfort Station” — sometimes they’re well-maintained and very clean, other times they can be a bit grimey. We suggest bringing hand wipes or sanitizer with you, just in case.

Younger kids will enjoy the large playground and a nearby gazebo is perfect for playing make-believe or providing some much-needed shade during the summer.

Cluett Hall, which is open to residents only, also sits on the property and features a track — but if you or your kids bore easily, be warned: 20 laps on this track equal a mile. Four, full-sized basketball courts are also inside the hall, as are locker rooms and additional bathrooms. Cluett Hall is also home to a performing arts center and features a small meeting room for community needs.

The fields and the courts are available on a first-come-first-served basis and dogs are not allowed on any of the Complex’s field areas. Best to leave Fido home when visiting St. Paul’s.
