Stony Point is a quiet play area with ball pit, lot for biking, and woods to explore!
This beautiful modern touch with historical touches has an open playground policy that we love! It’s our favorite last-minute play option in Bon Air. A couple of times a week we drop by unplanned and unannounced to enjoy all that this little gem has to offer. Here you will find a robust playground with slides, a smaller, windy slower one as well as a taller faster one. There is also a climbing wall, a four-person seesaw, and a spin chair activity. The playground ground is covered with mulch which makes it perfect for youngsters of all ages. There’s a bench for picnicking beside a wonderful climbing tree at the top of the hill. There is a ball pit and are multiple balls and instructions to play the game. You can also just hop in and make up your own game or even picnic there!
We really love the slightly sloped parking lot that is usually empty. We pack our bikes, scooters, and skateboard for a safe rolling adventure. You are welcome to bring frisbees and balls if you wish. Beside the playground, there is a place we go on “bear hunts” with wonderful trees, vines, and tall grasses. Depending on the season, there may be a large open area to run just down the hill after the grasses and rocks. My boys like to explore and imagine a world of power rangers and superheroes there.
If you’re like us, you’ll love the simplicity and multiple options for play. Make sure you bring a snack or lunch and some of your favorite activities. Parking is obvious in the lot. There is only a restroom available if there are people in the building. We have used the bathroom through the food pantry doors a couple of times when volunteers were helping organize during the day. The people here are so friendly and love serving the community. There are also plans to soon shade the playground!
