Visit Tanger Outlet in Foley and everyone will have fun outside too!
The Tanger Outlet in Foley is one of the better outlets I've visited. There are 120 stores and typically it isn't overcrowded, but can be during tourist season. There's easy parking and it's easy to navigate. The restrooms are always clean and tidy. We like to go on a Sunday and make a day of it. Shop from 10-11:30, go to Lambert's Cafe or Mellow Mushroom for lunch, then head back to the mall to shop and play.
The outlet mall is only an hour (or less depending on where you live) from Pensacola and closer to Mobile, so this is a fun hangout for a day trip. Watch for discount coupons online or at the Tanger Member Desks throughout the complex. Shops are covered by awnings, so you are protected from the sun (or rain) if needed. This is also an option if you want to just walk around and window shop to get some exercise. There are a ton of shops and they are arranged in a great circle with many shops in the middle of the circle. Wear good walking shoes because there is a lot of ground to cover.
The location is about 20-25 minutes north of the beach, depending on traffic, so during the summer there are lots of visitors in the area. When we go in the summer, I always pack extra towels and water shoes for the kids to take a break and play. If you are there in the cooler months, the splash pad will be closed, but the playground equipment is always available. The playground is under a nice shade awning so kids can be protected from the sun while playing.
They've recently removed the merry-go-round and replaced it with a miniature golf area. Just stop by the office nearby and they will give you clubs free of charge to play. So even if you don't go shopping (but why wouldn't you?) there are still tons of fun things to do right in the center of the open mall space. Park anywhere around the center circle shopping and walk to get to the outdoor fun area.
There aren't many restaurants at the mall, but plenty within just a couple of blocks. That being said, the choices for food on location are always busy. If you haven't been to Lambert's Cafe for the famous "throwed" rolls, be sure to go for some family entertainment! Lines can be long so go early. It's also very close to OWA Amusement Park where they are currently (2022) building a massive indoor water park.
