Terry Day Park is a perfect place to settle in and stay awhile.
Terry Day, or as my kids call it, “the zipline park” is a fun place to spend a few hours. At the park, you will find a lovely play structure, a zip line strong enough to support kids of all ages, a walking path, a pond, tennis courts, picnic tables, and trees to climb.
The zipline and playground host families of all ages. The zipline is just plain fun. I’ve often ridden it with my little ones and on occasion, I just take a ride myself! The playground offers multiple slides to accommodate different ages and ability levels. There are a lot of opportunities for balance and climbing activities at the play structure. This park can be a hotspot for daycares in the summer, so be mindful that one minute you may be enjoying the park alone, and the next it could be full of other children. However, the park itself has substantial room for adventure. If the playground gets crowded take a minute to walk over to the pond.
Many ducks live in the pond and my family loves going over to see them. Bring a bag of cheerios and enjoy watching your children interact with the ducks! Fishing is welcome at the pond (with a license).
When you're done at the pond, find a tree to climb or grab your sports equipment and play a game. Often people stay long enough to work up an appetite. There are many spots to eat, including a covered picnic area.
The park itself is not easy to walk to, so most visitors drive there. The campus of Boise State University, the train depot, and downtown Boise are all a short drive from the park. Just down the hill, you can find dining options: a great Mexican food truck and Tree City Smoothies.
