The Blue Pig is a locally owned business using locally sourced ingredients to make delightful desserts for everyone.

What’s not to love about sustainably made ice cream crafted with local dairy and fresh produce? Spoiler alert: Nothing. The Blue Pig provides seasonal flavors and vegan options, meaning all eaters will find a sweet treat here.

While kids will love the taste, adults will love that the milk — from nonprofit dairy cooperative Hudson Valley Fresh— is free of steroids, antibiotics, high fructose corn syrup, and gums. The cooperative is also dedicated to environmentally-friendly practices and formed in 1998 to preserve several family-owned farms in nearby counties. Did we already ask, what’s not to love?

Of course, you’ll find classic flavors: Chocolate, vanilla, mint chip (with garden mint!), but they also have fun, lesser-known and tasted flavors such as cardamom rose water, almond with berry swirl, and black licorice. Not fun enough? Try the homemade toppings like fresh whipped cream (our personal fave), hot fudge, and spiced nuts. They also make other specialty desserts and pints, quarts, cakes, and other novelties are available to-go.

Indoor seating is available, but we prefer to enjoy our ice cream in the Blue Pig’s outdoor patio garden.

The Blue Pig is a short, five-minute drive to or from Croton Gorge Park, but we prefer to visit from the park. Once you’re done exploring the 97 acres of hiking trails, the Croton Dam, waterways, waterfalls, and open green space, nothing feels better than treating yourself and your little explorers to some guilt-free, delicious, homemade ice cream.
