The Gorge White House is a must-stop while in Hood River!

Hood River Valley is a wonderful place with many farms and orchards. The Gorge White House is number two on the fruit loop and is very popular. Here you can find 30 acres of orchards with strawberries, raspberries, peaches, apples, pears, and cherries to name a few. They have wine, cider, u-pick fruits and flowers, and a food truck. Their hours vary seasonally, so check their website for details here. Since they have food and drinks for purchase, they ask for no outside food. They have a few parking lots, but they fill up very fast.

We have come a few times during the week and found it to be not as busy as the weekends. You can find many cars trying to find parking and long lines during the summer. There are many picnic benches and tables outside with great views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, their beautiful garden, and orchards. We really like coming here with our kids because there is enough room for them to run or play a game. All tables are first-come, first-serve. Don't forget your pet. Leashed pets are welcome except in the orchards and u-pick fields.

Wines and ciders

One of our favorite places to have ciders is here at the Gorge White House. They have eight ciders to choose from. There's apple, mixed berry, lemon pear, honey lavender, blueberry, cherry, apple with cascade hops, and cran-ras. They offer tastings, tasting flights, pints, growlers, and growlettes.

If you are not a fan of ciders, their wines are great as well. They have chardonnay, riesling, rosé, heritage Pear for whites and pinot noir, red blend, cabernet sauvignon for reds. You can do tasters, tasting flights, and by the glass.

Food

Their food truck provides fresh and local foods. Since their food is made to order, it can take at least an hour for your food. During the summer, the wait is usually two hours or longer. They have many items on their menu including burgers, hot dogs, tots, fries, quesadillas, salads, and sandwiches. The food is really delicious and has big portions so I usually share it with one of my children. In the store, they have snacks and juice for the kids.
