Waller Mill is a large park that has something for the whole family to enjoy.

Located right off I-64 in north Williamsburg, Waller Mill Park is a 2,705-acre park situated around a reservoir that opened to the public in 1972. There is a playground, hiking trails, dog park, picnic shelters, disc golf course, ball fields, and the 360-acre lake to enjoy. The playground is across the small bridge by the boating rentals. Nestled in the woods, the playground has one large structure with several slides, climbing, steps, bridge, and pretend play. Since the playground is in the woods, it is shaded most of the day which is great to escape the summer heat. However, the playground has mulch and a natural surface that when it rains it can become muddy. There is a picnic table and several benches around the playground area too.

The lake is a popular attraction for people to rent boats like canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, and Jon boats as well as fishing off of the pier or around the lake. The Boat House Store is where you can rent equipment to go on the lake, get tackle and bait, rent fishing poles, and purchase snacks and drinks. They have a couple of boat ramps too if you have your own equipment.

In Waller Mill Park, there are 6.25 miles of wooded hiking trails with picturesque water and wooded views. Five different trails will take you around the park for different views. A two-mile one-way asphalt bike trail will take you from Mooretown Road to Rochambeau Road. This trail is great for biking, scootering, walk/run, and pushing a stroller. If you are into geocaching, there are many along this trail too.  A short hike from the park along the bike trail will bring you to the 2.92-mile Lookout Tower loop trail which provides a panoramic view of the water and woodlands. This trail has several steep inclines and declines and not stroller friendly. However, the hike is worth the views you will see of the reservoir. A quick easy hike is the Shelter trail that is great for all ages. This 3/4 mile trail loops around Shelter 3 in the woods. The last trail is divided into two loops, the shorter and longer loop of the Bayberry Trail. This trail goes along the shoreline of the reservoir and through the woods for nice scenic views.

The 18-hole disc golf course is for both beginners and novices alike. There is a 9 hole course for beginners with shorter holes, less walking, and easier terrain for families. This is a popular location amongst the locals. Disc golf costs $2 to play or you can pay $37 for the year from the date of purchase. If you need an extra disc, no problem. You can rent them for $1 a disc.

There are several picnic tables and picnic shelters for rent or to come and enjoy when they are not in use. This is a great park to spend the morning, afternoon or all day here.

Do Note that the park has an entrance fee of $2. You will grab a ticket at the entrance into the parking lot. Take the ticket to the boathouse to pay before leaving the park. You cannot pay at the exit. You will get a stamped ticket to put into the machine before leaving the parking lot.
