Stroll along the brick promenade and walk the scenic paths around Walnut Street Park to enjoy the beautiful scenery. 

Located in central Cary, this small park has some wonderful features including two small play areas, open lawn area (1.4 acres), paved looped trail, natural mulched trail, boardwalk, brick promenade, picnic shelters, and public restrooms. The first play area has several climbing structures. The first one being a large climbing triangle, another being a multi-faucet structure with different ways to climb, and finally a long climbing structure with different bars to hang on. The other play area has a small playground, sand pit, and swing set. The small playground has several slides, steps, and ways to climb.  Near this is also a balancing area with a beam and steps. The area is poured-in rubber making it a great area for little ones to fall. The sand pit is large and has two digging tools to play with. The swing set has two traditional swings and two baby swings. Near the playground is a covered picnic table. Both playgrounds have mature trees surrounding them but can be in direct sun mid-day. In the warmer months, the climbing equipment can get hot so test before climbing.

The paved walking trail goes in a loop around the park. One mile equals 2.5 loops around. Along with the paved loop is there is a natural mulch trail and boardwalk. You can also take a stroll along the brick promenade with a beautiful twisty design that weaves back and forth along the path. This will take you from the playground area along the open green space towards Walnut Street. The green space is a great area to run around and play or relax on a picnic blanket.
