Enjoy the day along the Waneka Lake trail while soaking in the scenery.

Located in Lafayette, just east of Boulder, Waneka Lake Trail is a 1.2-mile fitness trail for walking, running, biking, or pushing a stroller (when it is not too wet or muddy). This trail is apart the the Waneka Lake Park and does a nice loop around the Waneka Reservoir. On this trail around the reservoir, there are fitness stations to help you stretch or build muscle. There is a mix of open areas and tree coverage. You can get shade along the trail at different parts of the day. The trail is a small gravel natural surface trail so a jogging style stroller can easily be pushed. Many people enjoy the trail for wildlife viewing and birding. During quieter times you can hear many birds singing away.  During the winter, the trails are used for cross country skiing. However, spots can be icy and when the snow is melting the trail becomes fairly muddy.

Now the trail does extend beyond the lake loop as well. The trail connects in several locations to neighborhoods, Angevine Middle School, the Greenlee Wildlife Preserve, Hecla Lake, and several other trail systems. You can easily make this a short or long hike or bike depending on your family's preferences.

At the end of your journey on the trail, enjoy the amenities at Waneka Lake Park. There is a playground, disc golf course, water recreation like boating or fishing, picnic areas, and restrooms. Waneka Lake Trail is perfect for everyone in the family. Check it out next time you plan to visit the park.
