Visit the Waterfront Cafe in the summer for lunch or small bites and a stunning view of Lake Michigan!

On the north side of Chicago, there is a beautiful small cafe with delicious food and a chill vibe on the rocky shoreline of Lake Michigan. The Waterfront Cafe is a seasonal restaurant right in the middle of Berger Park. The park offers the opportunity for a fabulous lunch or evening out for any family. The ideal family date might include a walk or scooter/bike ride over to the restaurant. Then children can play at the playground before or after they eat and everyone can enjoy a waterfront vibe. In the evenings the cafe often hosts live music performances!

When you arrive at the restaurant you will go inside and order your food. It is a limited menu but will surely have something that everyone will eat. They will give you a number and you are free to go find the perfect picnic bench while your order is being prepared. Strollers, bikes, or scooters can be parked outside the seating area, but you can almost always find a spot within view of your chosen table.

This is a great kid-friendly spot for families. The staff is friendly and happy to chat with children. The food is delicious and includes a few kid-friendly items, plus several appetizers and smaller plates that children may like.

Favorite items: Lobster Roll ($24) Pesto Chicken Salad ($12.50) and Jerk Chicken Nachos ($12.50)

Kid menu choices: Hot Dog or Peanut Butter and Jelly w/ chips ($6)

Parking will be very limited down Granville Avenue or Rosemont Avenue. The Granville Red Line CTA is about a ten-minute walk. Unless you take a rideshare service, you are looking for a lovely stroll to the restaurant no matter how you arrive in the area.
