Sneak a peaceful walk in nature on these lovely grounds.

Webb Nature Sanctuary is a small, urban nature preserve maintained by NOVA Parks. Take a walk on the peaceful and family-friendly Dragonfly Trail, a 0.5 loop through the park. The trail begins through an open meadow but quickly turns into a shady forest. While not stroller-friendly, our toddler was able to walk the whole trail herself since it is mostly gentle slopes and not rocky at all. The trail is next to a stream at some points with easy access to the water.

The parking lot is very small and the road on the way in turns to gravel. We were able to travel the road just fine in a mini van and have seen plenty of smaller cars parked in the parking lot but the ride is a little bumpy. The parking lot is on the right of the road, cross the road to the break in the fence to find the entrance to the trail, marked well with a sign. You can walk the trail in either direction since it is a true loop but we like to start by going towards the left and tackle the steepest part first! You can extend your walk by following the signs to Popes Head Creek and walking the hilly path that follows the water. We went down this way and enjoyed the scenery but the trail was very rocky in places.

We always see wildlife here and very rarely encounter other people at this hidden gem. There are no restrooms and no picnic tables but there are some benches on the trail if little legs need a break!

The historic town of Clifton has a lot to offer visitors like the Clifton Town Park and Playground or Paradise Springs Winery. There are many small shops and restaurants in the town to check out and it is very walkable!
