Weldon Spring is a beautiful spot to hike with well-maintained trails and fantastic views.
Weldon Springs Conservation area provides the community with great hiking trails and a large boat ramp that leads into the Missouri River. The conservation is an 8,000-acre park with lots of scenery and different landscapes. It is not wheelchair accessible. Leashed pets are allowed in the park. The area is suitable for kids and some hikes can be taken as an out and back versus the full loop. Hikes range from 5 miles to over 10 miles at a moderate rating.
Weldon Springs has well-maintained trails with easy-to-follow signs. You can make this park work for any level of fitness. The Lewis and Clark trail loop has multiple variations to extend your hike towards the river and past limestone rocks. All loop hikes take you past the Missouri River and the views will not disappoint. If you head towards the south end, you will encounter the various trails of "Lost Valley". The views are great from here as well but take you away from the Missouri River. If you want to hike all the trails and spend your days within the park there are multiple hotel options nearby. There are restrooms at some parking areas within the conservation. I would bring snacks, lots of water and even a picnic meal to replenish throughout the day. The trip to Weldon is worth it, about 15 minutes from Lake St.Louis and the surrounding area.
