West St. Paul Sports Complex is a large sports complex with many amenities, just minutes south of downtown St. Paul. 

This park has so many things going for it. It's a great stop if you have kids of different ages and interests, from baseball and softball fields to a playground to soccer fields and batting cages.

As soon as we arrived and pulled into the nice big parking lot, my kids saw the playground with tons of different equipment. The playground has a few different areas. The toddler play structure with a teeter-totter and a rocking car next to it was a huge hit with all the littles visiting this playground. The bigger play structure has multiple slides, climbing areas, and even a fire pole. My kids were crazy for that. Surrounding the playground area are tons of benches for parents and caregivers. Next to the playground is a small pavilion with a few picnic tables, perfect for a picnic lunch or snack in the shade.

Beyond the playground is an outdoor sports kids' dream. There are multiple baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, and a decent size batting cage. This area is a little further from the playground, so it's not possible to watch both places simultaneously, but if you have older kids, they could easily play a game of catch or kick the soccer ball around while you monitor little ones at the playground. I didn't notice any bathrooms while we were visiting, but it was the 1st day of spring, so the city may not have started putting out porta potties yet. 

All in all, this is an excellent park for kids of various ages. After a visit here, head over to 5-8 Grill and Tap and grab some takeout for supper.
