Big hearts and little hands welcomed at this volunteer-run playground at Wishing Well Park.
In the heart of Salisbury, Wishing Well Park is for the young at heart as well as those with a heart to give back. The purpose of this beautifully crafted playground is to foster community and play. It is beautifully maintained and generously funded through thoughtful volunteers and generous donations and sponsorships. There’s even a vast list of all the donors in the middle of the park with notes of gratitude.
At Wishing Well Park you will find plenty of shade and a few tables with benches for parents to sit and all to eat. There’s a covered sandbox (bring toys!), a big playground structure, monkey bars, slides, a hand-crafted wooden pirate ship, swings, a wonderful climbing wall in the shape of a dome. My kids learned to reach and move in ways they hadn’t experienced before visiting this park. They especially loved the climbing dome, balance area, and monkey bars. But you can never go wrong with a pirate ship fit just for you! There are several other individual play items like a spin merry-go-round, balance beam, and other balancing and physically challenging types of activities.
Wishing Well Park is located at the corner of Winterfield and Salisbury Roads behind the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. There’s a large parking lot beside another playground only open to the church preschool. This park is perfect for toddlers through elementary ages kids. Since the parking lot is so close, this is a friendly place for parents of infants and nursing mothers. There are no restrooms available so plan accordingly!
