The Best Parks and Playgrounds In and Around Scottsdale
The Best Parks and Playgrounds in Scottsdale
Cooler temperatures mean it's the perfect time to get the family out for some fresh air. Check out our list of the best parks and playgrounds in Scottsdale and then let us know which one is your favorite!
George “Doc” Cavalliere Park
This park might be a local favorite. There is a fantastic shaded play area, a large spot of turf for running around, bathroom access, and some great trails with beautiful desert scenery. It might be a little out of the way for some, but absolutely worth a visit. When arriving at the park entrance, keep a close lookout, because it does sneak up quickly! 27775 N Alma School Parkway Scottsdale, AZ 85262
Rotary Park
This park has a great playground, a big open field for running around, and a walking path at the north side of the park for getting extra steps in. Two covered ramadas make it a great park for a picnic. Plus plenty of parking and restrooms available too. E Gainey Ranch Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251
McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park
This is one of the best attractions in Scottsdale. There is so much to do with the train ride, a carousel, a railroad museum, multiple playgrounds for all ages, and tons of places to explore. Seasonal opportunities like concerts in the summer and holiday lights in the winter are also available. Restrooms and plenty of ramadas are located on-site. 7301 E. Indian Bend Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85250
Sonoran Hills Park
Sonoran Hills is located right next to an elementary school. There are two shaded play areas that are a hop, skip, and a jump between each other. They accommodate kiddos who are at different skill levels for play. Restrooms are available too. 7625 E Williams Drive Scottsdale, AZ 85255
Cactus Park
This is a great park for swings, two different play structures (which are both shaded), and bathroom access. Lots of friendly parents at this park, and there are walking paths surrounding the park which are perfect for scooter and bike rides or just enjoying the cooler weather. 7202 E Cactus Road Scottsdale, AZ 85260
Rio Montana Park
This park is a favorite because it is right next to the fire station. While the park itself is wonderful, the biggest treat here is that the firemen are incredibly welcoming and sometimes will give the kids a tour! 11180 N 132nd Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85259
Ironwood Park
This park is nicely tucked into a housing development and has been a quiet spot the times we have visited. Again, two shaded play areas based on motor skill levels and access to restrooms. Can’t beat that! 18650 N 94th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85260
Florence Ely Nelson Desert Park
The location of this park provides the perk of a Starbucks stop for mom prior to playtime. Park right behind the Starbucks on Pinnacle Road and follow the signs for the park. This is another park that you have to keep an eye out for because it is slightly tucked away, but it is a great spot! Personally, this is one that I would recommend for kids ages 3 and up. Not really much for the smaller crew (under two years). 8950 E Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85255
Horizon Park
Horizon has two play areas based on skill level, a great spot for making a mess with water and sand, clean bathrooms, and lots of friendly parents! 15444 N. 100th Street Scottsdale, AZ 85260
Sereno Park
This park is located right next to an elementary and middle school. It is a great neighborhood spot that has two different play areas, along with tons of wide-open space for running around. The kids love that sometimes the horse coral will have one or two horses exercising in the ring. This park is slotted for a refresh in Winter 2022. There is access to restrooms and shaded seating. 5702 E Sweetwater Avenue, Scottsdale, AZ 85254
Grayhawk Park
This is a popular park because there are two large open space areas, restrooms, and a playground for 5 and under kids. It can be a bit busy since it is connected to some sporting fields, so weekday mornings may be best to visit this spot if you are wanting to avoid larger crowds. 20726 N 76th Way Scottsdale, AZ 85255
