Featured Activity: 14 Days of KINDNESS and LOVE Jar

Published on January 27, 2022 - Updated on January 27, 2022

Valentine’s day is fast approaching, and the stores are becoming full of candy and flowers. Naturally, my 3-year-old keeps asking what all the candy is for. I’ve explained how Valentine’s day is a day to celebrate love in all forms - even through sweet treats. He obviously is all about Valentine’s day now…but there is more to it than the treats, of course!

Are you looking for a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s day without all the candy? How about spending the first fourteen days completing random acts of kindness and spreading love? Follow the steps below to instill this activity in your home starting February 1st!!!

STEP ONE: Gather your supplies

Items needed:

  1. Container (Mason Jar, Tupperware, Ziplock Bag, etc.)
  2. Construction Paper (Reds, Pinks, and Whites if you want a Valentine’s Day theme)
  3. Pencil
  4. Scissors
  5. Markers

STEP TWO: Fold construction paper in half

STEP THREE: Draw a half-heart shape along the FOLDED edge of the paper

STEP FOUR: Come up with 14 ways to spread the love with your kiddos

STEP FIVE: Write them on the hearts (decorate too!)

STEP SIX: Fold them up and place them in your jar

On February 1st, pull the first heart out and GO SPREAD THAT LOVE AND KINDNESS. Nothing says Happy Valentine’s Day like a kiddo sharing a sweet smile with the world.
