Mauro Playground is inclusive with updated features to keep every age entertained.
The Albert H. Mauro Playground was originally dedicated to Mauro in 1984 but was completely reconstructed in 2019 giving it the potential to be an undeniable hot spot. The playground has two different points of entry, one off of Park Drive East, and the other as an entryway to the Pat Dolan Trail and Willow Lake, where you can continue down the trail.
The new equipment encourages more inclusive play for all ages, as it features equipment for toddlers/young ones with a slide, equipment for big kids with a slide, play panels for toddlers/young ones, climbing structures for the big kids, and a splash pad. Other than the points of entry, the park is fenced in with the many different attractions.
For tweens+ there’s also renovated basketball courts and handball courts, and some open green space to play, so there’s plenty of things to do to keep everyone entertained. There also is an adult equipment grouping, so adults are also free to work out or play around. The park offers a comfort station by the playground, as well.
Over by the basketball courts, the park has smaller game tables and larger picnic tables to sit and play or simply sit and chat. If you get thirsty, there is a bottle-filling water fountain to make sure to stay hydrated. There are different seats and benches throughout the park in order to sit and relax. This would be an awesome place to get together with friends or family, as well, as there’s something to do for everyone and even sit out and grill.
You can also access The Pat Dolan Trail (Willow Lake Hiking Trails) to walk to the Willow Lake Playground on the other side of the lake (about 1.1 miles one way).
