Arcata Scoop is a local, gourmet, small-batch ice cream shop with whimsical decor.
Arcata Scoop is a fun little local ice cream shop. It has delicious ice cream made with local and organic ingredients and has interesting and unique flavors like cardamom, honey lavender, and rose water. Produce like their strawberries and peaches come from local farms and are always picked in season and are fresh. Other flavors with chocolate in them use Dick Taylor artisan craft chocolate which is local to Humboldt County as well. They make their own waffle cones fresh and I've never had a better one. They can even make your waffle cone into a bowl.
While you wait for your ice cream, your kids can use their pretend play area where an ice cream shop is set up with aprons, wooden ice cream cones, and ice cream scoops as well as a wooden cash register and counter. They can also ride the colorful rabbit that is from a children's carousel ride. There is also a big but cute (not scary) wooden bug that has springy coiled antennae.
While you eat your delicious ice cream, your kids will have so much fun sitting at the giant rocking table with carved giraffes on the sides. If it is full, don't worry. There are other cafe tables with beautiful local dahlias on each table. People are great about taking turns on the rocking giraffe table in this friendly community shop and it is rarely completely full or crowded.
Their Facebook Page and Instagram are the best places to see current hours (which vary seasonally) and the flavors of the day.
