Chestnut Hills Park in Arlington, Virginia can be your Kids' Playdate Venue!
Located just off of Lee Highway about twenty minutes outside of the city, Chestnut Hills Park has a large, fenced-in playground that will suit kids of all ages and get them having fun with friends outdoors!
There is one area that is for smaller children consisting of education-themed equipment on a rubberized surface. There are arches that are perfect for climbing and some spinning elements, as well as a nice sandbox with an excellent water feature that had a crowd of kids entertained for a long time. There are swings over here, too.
The other half of the playground has a large tower and slide structure, with lots of opportunities for climbing.
This park can get very, very crowded so be prepared to deal with that, but it's always a fun time and our kids never want to leave. There is a permanent port-a-potty toilet on-site.
Stop for a Snack
If you need something before or after you play, there is a Duck Donut shop, a Chesapeake Bagel Bakery, and a Starbucks just up the street at the Lee Harrison shopping center. You can also grab authentic sandwiches or pizza from The Italian Store and have a picnic in the park! If you're looking for a lunch spot, try Elevation Burger or Pupatella, both of which are great options with little ones. If you're willing to drive a little bit, though, our favorite is Lost Dog Cafe. Want a sweet treat? Ice Cream Jubilee is a quick drive from the park.
If you need an indoor activity for a toddler, check out Tumbles of Arlington for classes in an indoor gym nearby. If you're looking for some more relaxed indoor time, the Arlington Central Library is less than ten mintues away and features great childrens programming.
