Commonwealth Lake Park offers a trail, a playground, and all kinds of animal sightings!

Commonwealth Lake Park features a beautiful lake, a trail around the lake, grassy areas, and a great playground! The trail is .8 miles long and is paved so bring your stroller, bikes and scooters! The lake is home to many animals so this is the perfect spot for bird watching or seeing a nutria in person! This is a great spot to be on the lookout for Great Blue Herons, Green Herons, and Cedar Waxwings. The lake is also one of three bodies of water where THPRD allows fishing. There are viewpoints and benches along the path to observe wildlife or set up to go fishing. Just be sure not to feed the ducks! My family loves this park because I can get a run in while my little watches for wildlife in her stroller and then we end our outing at the playground!

Let's play!

The playgound is designed for older kids but toddlers can enjoy a nice portion of the playground. There is a bridge that moves as you walk on it that leads to several higher platforms. These platforms are too tall for toddlers to safely play on them and they are not enclosed so keep an eye on your littles! Right next to the playground is a swing set with baby swings and regular swings! Behind the playground is a large grassy area, perfect for playing soccer or having a picnic!

Parking can get tricky because there is no designated lot. There are a few parking spots along SW Butner Rd or you can street park on SW Foothill Dr and SW Huntington Dr. There is a porta potty.
