New Britain Borough's Covered Bridge Park is a 14-acre public park perfect for playing and picnicking!
This park features a large playground with a shaded sandbox and toys, merry-go-round, monkey bars, swings (big kid and baby), chin-up bars, spring riders, jungle gym, slides and a concrete tube for playing. The play area is covered with wood chips. A picnic pavilion (available for rent for private parties), charcoal grill and two individual restrooms are on-site as well. However, there are no changing tables in the restrooms. The park features a basketball court, gaga pit (think dodgeball in a confined space), soccer/baseball fields accessible via a path through a wooded area, as well as a pond for fishing!
The park is family-, dog- and bike-friendly. The paved Destination Peace Valley Bike and Hike Trail that connects Doylestown to Peace Valley Park and Lake Galena runs through the Covered Bridge Park. Families can enjoy the 1.47-mile stroll/ride along the Pine Run Reservoir and enjoy watching the birds, wildlife and insects that make an appearance in the meadows and along the water. The stroll from the playground to the reservoir meanders through shaded woodlands, past vast green athletic fields into the sunny, open meadow.
There is ample parking at the entrance of Covered Bridge Park as well as a few parking spots at the entrance of the Bike and Hike Trail located on Iron Hll Road.
There are no water fountains, so be sure to pack extra water, a picnic lunch, sunscreen, bug spray and your fishing poles/tackle box to enjoy your day at Covered Bridge Park. You can grab a boxed lunch at Honeybaked Ham or a pizza from Nico's Pizza both located at nearby Town Center Plaza on E. Butler Pike.
