Some of Our Favorite Nature Walks Have Been at Coyote Pond Park; My Kids Are Always Asking to Go Back!

Coyote Pond Park is one of our absolute favorite parks in the area. The playground is a nice one to play at for toddlers up to young school-aged children. But the highlights of the park lie in the nature exploration in the surrounding land. The pond is next to the playground, making it a great spot for a picnic lunch while viewing the many birds enjoying the pond. There is a paved path that starts at the playground that provides an out and back walk to a nearby neighborhood. There are also a few well-maintained dirt paths that will take you around the pond or up to the bluff that overlooks the entire park.

The route up to the bluff can be tricky; we have gone up through the trees to the left off the dirt path, walked almost all the way to the new construction, and then gone up the less steep backside. The route through the trees can be steep, so I recommend going up to the neighborhood (Sophia Drive) in order to walk up. Once you are at the top, the view is amazing! There has been a tree swing on one of the trees in the past, but occasionally it is taken down. We have seen a wedding party at the top as well and families having their professional photos taken! The hills are gorgeous in the fall, winter, and early spring when everything is green and wildflowers are blooming.
