Stay in a covered wagon, cabin, or camp at the Dolores River RV Resort, nestled in adorable Dolores, Colorado, as a jumping-off point for endless outdoor adventures.

I can not say enough good things about this incredible lodging option in Dolores, Co. We booked the Dolores River RV Resort because it put us driving distance for day trips to Mesa Verde National Park, Yucca House National Monument, Canyons of the Ancients Archeological Sites, and Durango. There are also tons of state parks in the area. The campground has tons to offer and turned out to be the perfect retreat to return to each evening.

Dolores River RV Resort offers numerous lodging opportunities. We rented an A-frame cabin and one of the covered riverside wagons during our stay. (We were traveling with another family, there were ten of us in total.) In addition, yurts, creekside cabins, and tent and RV camping slots were available. Depending on the type of lodging you book, you may need to provide your own bedding.

The onsite bathrooms were kept incredibly clean though we did have to wait for the showers most afternoons. The campground also has food trucks on weekends during the summer, or you can venture into town for food. (Dolores has several restaurants, a grocery store, two good coffee shops, playgrounds, and a brewery.)

Our favorite thing about the property is the proximity to the river. A small trench diverts river water to the two on-property fishing pods that form a lazy river perfect for tubing. You can also tube and swim in the river, though it runs much faster. The kids could not wait to return each evening and play in the river. They have also built a small pool out of river rocks right in the river that provides a safe place to sit in the river without floating away. There are endless opportunities to throw and stack rocks, and I generally enjoy being so close to the river.

The property has two fishing ponds. Since they are privately owned, you do not need a fishing permit. The kids enjoyed trying their hands at fishing. There are also several hiking trails on the property to enjoy.
