Dutch Creek Animal Farm hosts animal encounters and farm tours.

Head to Amish country, where you will experience up-close animal encounters at Dutch Creek Farm in Shipshewana, Indiana. Run by the Amish, it is a one-of-a-kind experience and offers unique glimpses of a simpler way of life. Upon arrival sign up for a time slot, where you will be loaded on a wagon ride drawn by horses and handed a heaping container full of feed. Here is where the real fun begins, as you tour the farm on a safari style wagon ride, you will have the opportunity to feed Camels, Water Buffalo, Brahmans, Long Horn Cattle, Elk, Llamas, Zedonkeys and Zebras.

While you wait for your ride, literally slip down the slide into the petting areas where you can feed and pet goats, turtles, bunnies, and more. If your timing is right, you can even hold baby bunnies, chicks and ducklings. They’re seriously the cutest! There is a whole separate area to visit that has a variety of animals from deer, monkeys, lemurs, cockatoos, parrots and pigs. Stand next to a towering horse or run alongside an ostrich, the fun experiences will delight your whole family. There is minimal shade on the property so bring hats and sunscreen. Pack a lunch, water bottles and relax under the covered pavilion during your visit.

** Many Amish businesses are cash only and do not have phones at their business, so you would need to leave a message and wait for a call back.

Want some refreshing ice cream? Visit Amish Frozen Custard and Ice cream four minutes down the road to top off your trip! They accept cash only.
