Try out rafting down a river, snowboarding down the mountains, and zipping from tree to tree at Elizabeth Jane Fiddyment Park!

Elizabeth Jane Fiddyment Park is dedicated to its namesake, who moved to Roseville in 1853 and began ranching with her children. She was widowed twice but continued to provide for her family through ranching. She eventually owned over 13,000 acres in the area.

Elizabeth Jane Fiddyment park features a large zip line that is one of my children’s favorites. It has a platform allowing kids to launch themselves and zip down the line pretty fast! The playground also has two other adventure-oriented features. One is a river raft suspended by four cables, allowing it to rock and swing back and forth. My kids love to pretend they are on a river rafting trip and try to create the rapids for each other by shaking the raft. The other feature is a snowboard-type contraption with a board suspended in the air with handles to hold while the child swings and swerves around. Unfortunately, the handles are a bit high up, so it may only be fun for kids around six and over.

There is a covered pavilion, baby and big kids swings, and a small grassy area. This park was a fantastic park to visit during Covid as all the play features are in their own bark pits, allowing each family to stick to one area and rotate without having multiple families playing together at one time. Now that things are a bit more back to normal, I still enjoy that there are enough things to do there and the different areas keep kids from getting antsy while in line for the zipline.
