Hidden Falls Nature Park in Happy Valley is a hidden gem that is easily accessible and worth the trip.

It is located in a neighborhood that is currently being developed. You may think you are in the wrong place, but you are definitely in the right place if you see lots of houses. You can park on SE Pioneer Drive where the trail begins. It is a nice incline down, but that means the way back up is a little harder. The path is paved and stroller friendly, so I suggest bringing a stroller or a way to carry your little one on the way up.

Once you reach the bridge, you can see the falls from this area. If you continue to walk after the bridge, on your left-hand side is an open area with logs, rocks and picnic tables. Our little one could spend hours in this area. The logs and rocks are really fun to climb and the rock ground makes a fun spot for nature’s own place to draw things with your feet.

From this open area, you can see the top of the waterfall. Sometimes you can see fish jumping up the waterfall, but it can be hard during certain times of the year. It depends on the flow of the water.

If you continue up the path (which is quite the incline) you make it to Adrienne C. Nelson High School. The climb back up to your car is also a steep incline, so if you are tired, I would advise against continuing your walk and making the trip back to your car.

Parking is all street parking in the small neighborhood. You can park at the high school and take the opposite route that I described above.

There are no bathrooms so plan accordingly.

This area is beautiful year-round and I recommend going during all seasons!
