This 68-acre historic estate in Beaverton is an amazing place to spend a few hours with kids.
Jenkins Estate property is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The history of this park began in 1912 when Ralph and Belle Ainsworth Jenkins purchased it as farmland and started to build their summer house and a huge garden planned by the official gardener of the prime minister of Canada. In 1976, the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District acquired this area that is now open to the public and available for corporate meetings or other social events.
Jenkins Estate Park has hiking trails, stroller-friendly paths, gardens, historical buildings, playgrounds, picnic areas, bathrooms, and other structures that make your visit very pleasant. Besides that, this hidden gem is a perfect location for photoshoots during the spring and fall seasons.
Two free parking lots are available. One parking lot is near the 20th century home and refurnished stable, and another is close to the Jenkins Estate Camp Riverdale Playground. During weekdays it is a very calm and quiet place, but on weekends is usually busier – especially during the fall season when the trees are showing their red and yellow leaves close to the Log Tea House Pavilion and the Charles Waldron Bridge. Bring snacks, water, and have a picnic there, because this area doesn’t have many nearby options for food.
I highly recommend you to visit Jenkins Estate Park with your kids. Thanks to the breathtaking views that this park offers, you will make good memories here.
