Let your kids and their imaginations run wild at Kidcity in Middletown!
With two young children, we have been to many children’s museums and playspaces. This is one of our favorites. Geared for the 1-7 year old set, KidCity has three floors of incredible playspaces. There is a basement area strictly for toddlers, or 2 and under. This is a really beautifully done sea-themed room with colorful murals and jewel tones; nooks and crannies to hide in and explore. Your toddlers will not want to leave, and the older kids will be envious they can’t play here.
The first floor is separated into themed play spaces - there is an outer space -themed room, a fishing-themed room, and a farm room. Each of these spaces are so incredibly well-done, with buttons, pulleys, levers to push and pull. There is a play stage complete with adjustable lighting, music and costumes that my kids loved putting a show on. Children will have a blast in the fishing room, where there are boats to play on, fish to catch, and pulley systems and belts to move their haul. My children could have spent the better part of a day on the first floor, but the second floor is the real show-stopper. A large portion of the second floor is designed as a medieval castle. There are turrets, stairs, secret rooms, a kitchen, vegetable fields, and, just like in the fish room, an incredible pulley and belt system to move play bricks around the castle.
There are a couple other small rooms on the second floor, including a small reading nook, which is an excellent space to decompress and have some quiet time after all the excitement of playing in the castle.
Even the bathrooms at KidCity are little-person friendly, with smaller toilets and step stools at the sink.
