A traditional diner with an island twist, Kihei Caffe is your spot for breakfast.

Kihei Caffe is a destination in of itself and an absolute must for my family when we're on the island. Located across the street from Kalama Park, the 'blink and you'll miss it' building is a charming mix of rustic and modern. Expect to see a chicken or two while you order from the digital menus. The banana mac (banana macadamia nut) pancakes are unique, and don't you dare skimp on the coconut syrup! They have an extensive menu, a little something for everyone from loco moco, corn beef hash, French toast, cinnamon rolls, chia, fruit bowls, and yogurt to bacon, eggs, and toast. They do have a kids menu too. We were delightfully surprised when we learned of their expansion in Kihei with a larger dining space! We've happily waited for and eaten our pancakes under the overhead rain covers in the pouring rain, but with the kiddos, comfort is key. 

This is an excellent spot for breakfast, and they offer Hawaiian diner-style menus for lunch as well. Portions are shareable, and remember, you must get the banana mac pancakes. The line can be long and somewhat intimidating, but it usually moves fast, and it is so so worth it. Not into eating on-site, or are you on the run? They offer to-go options, and Kalama Park across the street is an excellent option if you need to let the kids run around for a while. Park behind the building in the shared lot or along the road. They've also recently added a second location to Lahaina- hooray!
