Killin Wetlands Nature Park is a beautiful place to relax, watch birds and have a short hike on graveled paths.
This is a very calm and almost quiet nature area. You can hear the very distant noise of the highway traffic, but it is not a problem since you can enjoy other sounds like birds singing and ducks flying. There is a lake, formed in the late 1990s where you can kick back and watch for hours. Bring binoculars with you and try to find beavers, river otters, elks and different types of hard-to-find birds. Killin Wetlands is recognized by the Audubon Society of Portland as an important bird area and it is a featured stop on the Willamette Valley Bird Trail.
Also, in this place, you can admire one of the 59 quilt panels from The Quilt Barn Trail of Oregon’s Tualatin Valley/Washington County. The one on the Killin Wetland white barn wall is called “Doves in the Window.” The 0.6 miles of graveled paths are easy to hike with kids, so I highly recommend this place for little ones who enjoy nature. Bring snacks and water with you and have a picnic, because there are no food options nearby.
Finally, there is a free parking lot, some picnic tables (none are covered), and some benches along the paths. The restroom is closed right now, but there is a portable toilet available on the parking lot. Dogs and other pets are not allowed because they can damage habitats and threaten wildlife.
I hope you have a relaxing time in this place!
