Larchmont Manor Park Serves up a Delightful Stroll Along the Long Island Sound.
Head over to the village of Larchmont, a suburb of New York City along the Long Island Sound to discover this lovely park. Well known for its rocky shoreline, gazebos, and scenic views of the Sound, Larchmont Manor Park is open to the public every day of the week from sunrise to sunset.
Locals and tourists alike love walking along the many pathways in the park while admiring the views of the Long Island Sound and on a clear day, the famous New York City skyline. There are gazebos along the way, which are fun for children to play in. This park is a great place for kids' imagination to run wild. The park is filled with benches, some hidden within the rock formations to admire all the views. A fun game to play with small children is trying out all the benches and deciding which ones is the favorite.
The park is bordered by stately Victorian homes, which are typical of the Larchmont Manor neighborhood. Throughout the late 19th and early twentieth centuries, Larchmont was a summer escape for New York's elite. Many of the summer resident's large Victorian “cottages” of that era survive in Larchmont Manor. From the Larchmont Manor Park, you can walk down Prospect Avenue to Fountain Square and admire the homes. If you like a good walk, you can turn this entire morning in a walk and end up having lunch in the village at Encore Bistrot.
Parking in the Larchmont Manor is easy, but more difficult on sunny weekend days. Be prepared to walk. This whole walk is stroller accessible.
