Your family won’t be disappointed at the LeMay Car Museum. Explore four levels and 165,000 square feet of museum space!

This museum is open Thursday through Monday from 10 am to 5 pm with the last entry at 4:30 pm. The staff will give you a map to explore after paying for tickets. Parking is $5 and you can pay at the automated station. Tickets range from $18 to $10, and children under 5 are free.

The museum is stroller-friendly, and there are bathrooms on every level. As you wander down the levels via garage-style ramps, the staff gives you fun facts and pieces of trivia about cars.

Take the elevator or walk down to level one to find the family zone. Your kids can sit in an old blue car that has working sounds and lights, and also sit in a red race car. There is a station to make your own pine derby car and a race track to test your skills. A fun map of the USA has trains and tracks to play with and a coloring station. As you walk back up the ramps, you will find the slot cars and race car simulation station. These cost an additional $3 to $8 and would be great for older kids and adults.

There is normally a theater that plays educational videos, but is currently not open due to COVID restrictions. Please check the website to see when it will open.

Stop at the top level for lunch at the Full Throttle Café – you can also enjoy the café without admission to the museum. The seating area overlooks the cars, so it is a fun place to eat!

There are a variety of sandwiches, soups, and pasta to choose from – but no gluten free options available.

Erin Gallimore
Erin Gallimore is a PNW born and raised, outdoor-loving girl currently living in Tacoma, Washington with her husband Josh and toddler Graham. Being outdoors has always been a favorite activity for her, but has found the calling of the great outdoors louder since her son came onto the scene. Erin and her family can be seen wandering local parks, hiking national and state parks, and sitting at local restaurants all across Washington State trying to find the best gluten free pizza. Erin works full time in healthcare and enjoys adventuring on weekends and holidays. When not working or adventuring, you can find her supporting local foster care charities since she was a foster mom for 6 years. Her biggest love is to teach her son how to love the outdoors and to watch him grow and learn with every adventure. Graham is a good hiker, loves water and sand, and loves throwing rocks at both. She hopes to share the love of the beautiful Pacific Northwest with the Happyly family!
