Exploring the Little Harpeth River starting at Edwin Warner is an amazing experience for kids and adults alike!
This stretch of the Little Harpeth River is magical. Tucked away in Edwin Warner Park, this is a secluded spot that is perfect for kids of all ages and their adults as well. The Little Harpeth River gently flows through, cascading down little rocks to create mini waterfalls and swimming holes. Most of the river is shallow enough for small children to wade through with some deeper, waist-high areas as wells. The rocks are generally pretty slippery so kids will need extra assistance navigating through the water and water shoes are highly recommended. Most of the river is in the sun, but there is some shade on the banks of the river.
To find this particular area in Edwin Warner Park, park at Shelter 6 and then follow the very short dirt path that takes you to the river. It’s only about a minute walk from the parking lot. There is not much space on the banks of the river to set up chairs or keep belongings such as towels. however, Shelter 6 is a shaded picnic area and there are more shelters within walking and driving distance as well.
People love to hike around the area with family members of all ages to take in the beauty. There are equestrian trails and biking trails, so there is space to suit a wide variety of outdoor pursuits.
There is a restroom and a playground available near shelter 5. Pack a picnic and enjoy the day!
