Upscale Waterpark with Indoor and Outdoor Areas
Even as an indoor waterpark skeptic, this premium option is surprisingly fun for the whole family. The park features different sections for all ages – the upper deck is where the toddlers and babies can have a splash pad experience, while the main floor features surfing simulators, two lazy rivers, several waterslides, a large pool with water activities. My younger children absolutely loved it – especially the lily pad area in the main, large pool as well as the lazy rivers. They were too small for the water slides (there is a height requirement of 42"), but my husband and I rode the rides several times and thought they were great! In the upper deck, there is a smaller slide that younger kids can go on. In the warm months, typically May- September the outdoor area of the waterpark is open as well. That area includes a large wave pool, more slides, another small kids area, and an adults area only.
Life vests of all sizes are available as are free towels. There are also plenty of chairs, full body heaters/ dryers, and tables available. You can also purchase food inside the waterpark. The food was better than I expected and cocktails are available for adults. You can also rent a cabana.
To visit SoundWaves, you must be a guest of the Opryland Resort and purchase waterpark tickets or you can visit by purchasing a Party Room. Party Rooms give groups of people access to the waterpark and 2 hours to a separate "party room" with free pizza and drinks. Party Room costs vary based on the size of the group. One difficulty about the party room is leaving the waterpark and walking downstairs to the airconditioned arcade area where the party rooms are located. Our kids wanted to change out of their bathing suits since it was cold in the party room, but then had to change back into them when we returned to the waterpark. While it's a very quick 2-3 minutes walk to the room, grab some clothes to bundle in to stay dry while you eat your pizza.
The entrance to SoundWaves is located in the Opryland Resort, near where the Garden Conservatory and Delta area of the hotel meet. Parking is $35 a day and is not included in the purchase of the SoundWaves tickets. Be on the lookout for Davidson Co resident specials and for summer day passes.
