Maruta Gardner Playground is a unique & amazing park to entertain the children with some beachy outdoor fun!

Maruta Gardner Playground is an absolutely stunning playground. It is unlike any other playground we have ever experienced and it is located in Bonita Cove right across Belmont Park. Upon arriving, you will quickly spot the cotton candy pink and blue color scheme structure. It will instantly give your kids a sense of excitement. The name of the park is a remembrance of Maruta Gardner, who was an activist that touched the lives of many and will continue to do so with this amazing tribute.

The playground offers numerous play elements designed for children of all ages and allows children to practice physical and social development. The playground includes double-seated swings, a saddle swing, a large rope course that resembles the Giant Dipper roller coaster, balance equipment, musical play equipment, slides, hammocks, an ADA swing, see-saw, and fun carousel swing. One of my absolute favorite thing about the park is the beach-inspired theme and the shaded built-in beach chairs right near the sand! 

After playing on the playground, head over to the beach or towards the bay for a relaxing stroll. We usually have our children bring their bicycles or scooters so they can ride on the path. Some of the amenities the park has to offer are restrooms, showers, shaded gazebos, volleyball courts, benches, grassy open space, and plenty of parking spaces. It is a slightly busier during the weekends, so if the lot is full, make sure to head to the other parking lot located on Mission Blvd. 

This park is truly remarkable and is a whole adventure in itself. Children will explore everything and their little minds will run wild with all the fun and interactive activities available. The colors of the structures are vibrant and the atmosphere is mesmerizing. This place is definitely a must-see when you are in the Mission Beach area. 

Approximately two minutes from the park is Cor Di Gelato, a delicious vegan gelato shop. Enjoy a fun San Diego outing with the family by visiting restaurants and shops at Belmont Park and enjoy the ocean at Mission Beach, which is also located across the park.
