Visit Mast Park and Playground and enjoy an endless outdoor adventure with the whole family!
Mast Park is located in the Santee neighborhood, and it is a beautifully renovated park that opened in February of 2020. The park features a large Disc Golf Course, a kid-friendly two-mile walking path, a large playground, an off-leash dog park, a fitness area for adults, a basketball court, and a Nature Discovery area.
Mast Park features two separate play areas for the little ones and the bigger kids. The play structures have many slides, including two large tunnel slides, swings for all ages, climbing structures, and a spinning cage. This is such a fun playground for children to challenge themselves while using imaginative play.
The park offers many useful amenities such as restrooms at both ends of the park, barbecue grills, a bike repair station, new picnic tables, large gazebos, and a concession stand/food truck known as Burgers, Bones, & Beer, where they serve delicious food, snacks, alcohol, and even treats for the dogs. The hours of operation are Friday - Sunday, 10:00 am - Dusk.
The Disc Golf Course is a very fun activity for the whole family to enjoy, many people gather in large groups and have fun playing amongst one another. The course is available around the park's perimeter and does require a rental fee. The kiosk is public near the concession stand, and they do offer monthly passes through the City of Santee website.
Bring your dogs along and have them enjoy this amazing off-leash new dog park which is just a short walk away from the playground. The dog park is fully gated and conveniently divided between small and large dogs. It is a very amusing experience for the children to sit on the nearby benches to watch the dogs play.
Take a peaceful stroll on the two-mile loop trail. It is kid-friendly and runs along the park. The trail offers plenty of added paths leading to the local neighborhood, and it is connected to a bigger trail that follows the San Diego River. If you decide to take a longer route, the map does indicate the trail to be 3.2 miles long.
After spending a fun day at the park, explore the Janet's Cafe and Deli, Handels Homemade Ice Cream, or Mary's Doughnuts located in the shopping center right beside the park. They are all unique restaurants and include menu options for children.
