Minetta is a fun stop right by Washington Square.

For a small and fun city playground, Minetta park is the perfect place to stop. As it is gated in with many trees providing shade over the jungle gym and open play area, this park is a great place for kids to run around and for parents to relax on the benches (or run around with them). There are a couple of baby swings and a ton of climbing structures, nets, slides, and other essentials to ensure that kids enjoy themselves. The obstacles and amazing jungle gym are sure to make kids feel like they’re competing on American Ninja Warrior! 

If anyone works up an appetite while running around, there are many places to stop and grab a bite to eat. Within a one to two-minute walk, there are New York food essentials (bagels and pizza) and well as a Sweetgreen a bit farther away. Minetta playground also has benches to sit on, to enjoy any meal or snack! This park provides a perfect balance of shade and sun, giving options to people who enjoy eating in varying levels of light and heat.

Right across the street from Minetta playground, there are basketball courts (West 4th Street Courts). These are a great place to scrimmage, play a pick-up game, shoot some hoops, scooter or just run around. Also, a bit further down the road is the Golden Swan, a small and charming outdoor sitting area. The few benches scattered throughout are great places to sit back and admire the greenery. Washington Square Restaurant is located adjacent to the park, making it a convenient place to grab a bite to eat after enjoying the outdoors!
