Norma Hamlin Park is surrounded by beautiful nature trails with grasses and spring wildflowers!

Norma Hamlin Park is a great little park nestled in a residential neighborhood just West of Lake Natoma. It is surrounded by beautiful dirt walking trails that weave through oak trees, grasses, and wildflowers all the way to Lake Natoma. If you are visiting in the spring, some vernal pools have a wide variety of wildflowers to enjoy. The park and trails provide a setting with a great opportunity to talk about different habitats, vernal pools, and the life cycle of flowering plants with your children.

The playground at Norma Hamlin park is a great one for big and little kids. There is a fun spiral staircase in the center of the structure that I noticed was very entertaining for both my kids and other kids playing at the park. There is a rock-climbing wall, two slides, big kid swings, balancing platforms and a ladder. The trees surrounding the park are great for climbing, and this is one of those parks where your kids may spend more time playing in the surrounding natural environment than at the playground.

There are picnic benches in the shade and a little free library at Norma Hamlin park. There are no restrooms available, so plan accordingly. There is not a lot of parking available close to the park, just a few spaces along the dead-end street. Make sure to allow some time to explore the surrounding trails a bit, as they are very beautiful!
