Orsinger Park is a county park, near Shavano Park, that packs a lot of punch.

To start, it has a large area dedicated to playgrounds and it features 3.5 separate playscapes. All of the playscapes are set on an AstroTurf surface, there are two sets of swing sets each with a bucket toddler seat and a generation swing on each. There are also two play areas that have slides and playground climbers. A balance bridge is featured on each playscape connecting slides, monkey bars tic tac toe spinners. A rock-climbing wall and balance steps were a fun feature at this park. There is also a separate section with two swing sets for older kids who are able to swing without the toddler seats. One unique feature of this park is a large sandbox – when we visited there were 4 toddlers playing inside and there still was plenty of room for a couple more. Benches and picnic tables surround the play areas, the majority of these being in shaded areas whih is a nice perk for caregivers when they need a break.

There is plenty of green space and paths where you are able to take a walk under the trees and feel like you are not in the middle of the city.

We visited on a Saturday morning at 10:30 and it was active but didn’t seem overly crowded because of the large space. There is plenty of parking and it is just a short paved walk to the play area. Similar to other parks, porta-potties were the only bathroom option. Bring your mosquito spray!
