The adventures are endless for kids at Palencia Pirate Ship playground and park.

Palencia Park is home to the Pirate Ship Playground and many athletic fields, basketball courts, a large pavilion with picnic tables, and a paved walking path. There is plenty to enjoy for the whole family, including lovely spots to rest and enjoy the scenic lookouts. 

Parking was a little confusing at first. We ended up stuck in the school pick-up line by accident. To avoid this, when you first enter the park, do not enter the roundabout. Instead, turn left into the parking lot. Then, you will cross a little street to enter the park itself.

The playground is a little kid's dream come true with plenty to climb on and let their pirate imagination run wild. Decorated like a pirate ship, it even has a giant octopus to climb on. There are also tire swings and plenty of room to run around the circular fenced-in area. Kids were doing laps running around the perimeter.  

We loved the added activities painted in cheerful colors on the sidewalk, like hopscotch and other fun signs with ideas and games to play. 

Outside of the playground, there are large fields to run around on when the sports teams aren't using them. So we brought a soccer ball and a frisbee to pass around to add to the fun.

The paved walking trail is perfect for stroller walking or jogging. It would be a great place to teach kids to ride bikes.

The restrooms were well-maintained and convenient to access.
