With a playground, covered picnic area, rock climbing, and a view, Phil Baux boasts one of the more unique park experiences in Jackson and is fantastic for all ages and interests.
Curious kids who love to play outdoors will enjoy its playground. It has slides and swings for all ages and the picnic shelter is great for caregivers to station themselves while still keeping an eye on the kids. The summer season is indisputably when the park is at its prime, especially as it lies adjacent to the Snow King Ball Park, which hosts many fabulous events including Jackson Hole Live, the Raptor Fest, the People’s Market, and more.
The kid-friendly park makes for a great place to set up camp if you don’t want to be in the heart of it all. There are also horseshoe pits and slacklining posts. The man-made bouldering park offers routes for any level and is free all year. A summertime climbing competition called the Town Pump is hosted here every Tuesday night and can be fun to watch or participate in. Bathrooms are available and there are two obvious parking lots. It’s along the bus route as well and less than a mile walk from the town square. Dogs are not permitted.
Bring a picnic and stay awhile. Being at the base of Snow King, there are often skiers, mountain bikers, climbers, and events to watch from the park itself. The world championship snowmobile hill climb is held here annually as well and, trust us, that is not a sight you want to miss.
*Good for older kids if they want to boulder or bring a slackline to play with. The playset is geared more for younger children, offering baby and big kid swings.
