Roger Tilbury Memorial Park Playground has the best of both worlds: a traditional playground and a nature play area.

Roger Tilbury Memorial Park has a quiet playground as it is tucked away inside a new planned housing development in Northwest Portland. Parking was a bit confusing at first because the sign to the park had a driveway just beyond it, but that led to older, private residences with no trespassing signs. So, you want to park on the street where the new houses all are. There are signs that prohibit parking on parts of the streets or on one side. But, you can find easy street parking within 2 blocks of the park. It was quiet because it is away from any major roads. But, there were other people about walking dogs even in winter.

It is a bit small for a park, but for a neighborhood park it is more than adequate because the whole reason we went was to check out the nature play area. Of course, my kids played on the traditional structure as well, which was nice to get some sun in the 30 degree weather. But, the nature play area was so cool! They are tons of logs, sticks, branches, and boulders to climb and build with. These nature play areas are awesome and one of the many reasons why we love living in Oregon. The park was also very beautiful because even though it's a planned "cookie cutter" neighborhood, the forest of trees was beautiful and refreshing to look at and be in.
