The Sacramento Zoo is dedicated to animal welfare and education and provides a safe way for your family to get up close to wild animals!

The Sacramento Zoo is currently located in William Land Park in Sacramento. The park has been at its current location since 1927, but a new zoo location in Elk Grove is currently in the works. The Sacramento Zoo is located across the street from Fairytale Town and Funderland, making it a great spot to spend an entire day exploring the attractions. William Land park is a wonderful spot to eat a picnic lunch in between the zoo and Fairytale Town and Funderland. We have loved visitiing the Sacramento Zoo with our children many times and continue to have a membership so we can visit as much as we'd like!

The zoo also features traveling exhibits like its current (2022) dinosaur safari, featuring moving life-size animatronic dinosaurs throughout the zoo. The zoo puts on many events throughout the year like happy hour, locked zoo, summer camps and behind the scenes tours.

The highlight for my family is visiting the giraffes and participating in the feeding time. My children love handing the giraffe a leaf of lettuce and watching its bluish black tongue grab the food! The other animals that we love seeing include lemurs, red panda, howler monkeys, alligators, zebras, okapis, the reptile house, meerkats, otters, kangaroos, snow leopard and the new cheetahs! We are also looking forward to the addition of the galapagos tortoise in the near future.

There are many food options throughout the zoo including snacks, meals and beverages. Members receive a discount on food and at the gift shop.
