Salt Marsh Point Park is a great small neighborhood park and playground for all ages, located next to a network of trails perfect for walking, biking, and scootering.

The park is nestled between the Virginia Beach neighborhoods of Salt Marsh Point, Seatack, and Shadowlawn but is worth a visit from further out as well. The park is open from dawn to dusk, and a small free parking lot is available.

The main feature of this playground is a large play structure that includes several climbing opportunities for different ages and hands-on activities for littles. For example, toddlers can bang on a rainbow xylophone, pretend to drive a bus with several steering wheels, or spin Xs and Os to their heart’s content.

There are five slides, including three small toddler slides and two taller slides for bigger kids. We especially love the long, straight big kid slide that is one of the fastest, steepest slides we’ve found! It’s a thrill for bigger kids, but be careful with kids under 3!

Besides the main play structure, Salt Marsh Point Park has a fun arched climbing/monkey bar-type tower and several swings. There are two baby swings, three big kid swings, and one accessible swing. There is also plenty of grassy areas around the park for kids to run or kick a ball around.

Next to the playground, a tennis court and several covered picnic tables are the perfect places to stop for a snack or lunch or get a break from the sun.

We like to visit this playground in conjunction with a trip to the Marshview Park trails. So, after you visit the Salt March Point Park playground, grab your scooter or bike and head across the street to Marshview Park, where you can explore paved and unpaved trails through a lovely wooded area!

I am a Massachusetts native who grew up in the suburbs of Boston and on Cape Cod. As a military spouse I have lived all over the country from Florida to California, and several places in between. My family has now settled in Virginia where I am a stay-at-home mom to two awesome girls. I love to explore and hike National and State Parks, and spend tons of time at the beach with my kids, splashing in the waves in the summer and searching for shells and seaglass in the winter. I also love running, yoga and cooking!
